I have had a nice cozy cup of tea in my hands every morning of the holidays so far. I have also had lots of yummy treats in my belly. Now that I am full to the brim with turkey, trimmings and goodies, it's time to take a little time to recap what we've been up to for the past week.
Xmas eve was spent at our house, with a full turkey dinner (mostly) cooked my myself. It was the first time I'd done it and it went very smoothly, without a even a tad bit of chaos! Our living room was transformed into a dining room and our house was filled with our lovely family! It really made the house feel full and truly our house!
Xmas morning, the boys and I lounged as the kids played with their new gifts from us and Santa. Then off we were to a lovely brunch with some more of the family! The next day we drove up island and it was a rather decent drive! I managed to squeeze into the back seat between the boys' carseats, so that made the journey better. We also stopped in to visit with some friends in Parksville, then the boys nap the rest of the way to the farm.
Once at the farm, the hound was let loose and we settled in for a nice relaxing visit. Poor Jack had to wait a while to open presents, but his little cousin had been waiting for much longer! Our dog came back from a walk, hobbling and unable to walk on one of her rear legs. We inspected for something stuck in her paw, but didn't see anything. She rested most the day.
That evening a great turkey feast was cooked and we all had a good evening. The next day and evening was nice and mellow. Some friends of our family had arrived and one was a vet. He took a look at Betty, our dogs' leg and told us that she'd torn a ligament and would most likely need surgery! Poor little thing.
So the day she was taken to a vet in town and it was confirmed that she'd need surgery. Needless to say that put a damper on our trip. To top things off little D is now sick and slept poorly for the duration of our stay, so we cut it one day short and are now home.
Cory is currently at the vet getting numerous X-rays on poor little Betty! Let's hope she'd doing okay!
