This is where over 600 kids play everyday in Vancouver.  There are 2 swings and a small structure which has been partially dismantled.......

My cousin has organized an amazing opportunity for her school and neighbourhood.  She has entered her children's school in a grant contest to win a new playground!  The school has been undergoing renovations and the children have been without much of a playground for sometime.

I thought that after all of the renovations were complete the school board would replace the playground, however they plan to plant on tree in the middle of a concrete slab.  That's it.  They currently have two swings and a very small structure.  There are over 600 students and right now they have to stagger recess and lunch so the tiny play structure isn't over crowded and unsafe.

The best thing about the proposed playground plan is that it will be wheelchair accessible.  There are no playgrounds that are wheelchair accessible in Vancouver schools, so this would make a huge impact for many families!

Please register and vote (you can vote once a day for the next 9 days!)!!  A new playground will help build their community and form lifelong relationships for families living in the inner city.

  1. Thank you Tanya! It is an amazing cause but we need a little support to get into the top 10 so the judges can decide!
